* Myofunctional therapy post orthodontic treatment is not part of this program and is offered as post-orthodontics myofunctional therapy.
** Our goals for this particular program are progress and improvement rather than perfection, as we know that the function tends to relapse somewhat after orthodontic treatment. How close we can get to myofunctional therapy goals depends on each individual and while some might be able to achieve most of the goals in that short program, others may need a lot more time and sessions. We aim to achieving the following goals: functional nose breathing most of the time, correct tongue posture most of the time, correct lip posture most of the time, knowing the mechanics of correct swallow, elimination of harmful oral habits (if present).
*** Basic toolkit includes tools necessary for therapy and exercises, but doesn’t include oral appliances like the MyoMunchee. Those are an extra cost or purchased by the client directly from the supplier.

Comprehensive myofunctional therapy programs are designed for children and adults with oral myofunctional disorders (OMDs) who experience one or more of the following symptoms due OMDs:
mouth breathing daytime and/or night
open mouth posture
snoring / noisy breathing / sleep apnea
restless and broken sleep
fatigue
hyperactivity or/and irritability
nasal congestion / difficulty nose breathing (see Mini breathing program for more details)
jaw joint symptoms (see TMJ program for more details)
dry mouth & issues with dental health
jaw development and dental alignment problems
The program is a sequence of myofunctional therapy sessions designed to restore functional breathing and correct oral function through the attainment of the four goals:
functional nasal breathing
correct lip posture at rest
correct tongue posture and function
correct swallowing and chewing
The program consists of fortnightly appointments aimed at achieving the above goals through exercises and habit changes, which are crucial for stable results.

This myofunctional therapy program is offered to children and adults who are presenting with a tongue thrust. Tongue thrust is part of oral myofunctional symptoms related to a dysfunctional swallowing pattern (usually with tongue pushing in between the teeth during swallowing and/or lips and cheeks pushing back on the dental arches) and an incorrect tongue posture (usually with tongue resting in between the teeth instead of in the roof of the mouth).
A tongue thrust can cause facial and dental development abnormalities such as flaring of the teeth, large dental overjet, teeth crowding or excessive teeth spacing. It can also influence digestion and result in aerophagia (swallowing of air during the intake of solids and liquids) which can negatively impact digestion.
The program consists of fortnightly appointments and is based on a minimum required number of therapy sessions* (8 sessions, 1 review and 1 follow up). The appointments are usually scheduled fortnightly and consist of checking and issuing myofunctional therapy exercises and associated practices specific to the individual.
