About
At Let’s Face It Myofunctional Therapy in Tasmania, we work alongside dental and orthodontic professionals to support early oral development through functional therapy and habit correction.
Early interceptive orthodontic care aims to guide jaw growth and oral development during childhood to reduce the need for more extensive orthodontic treatment later.
While orthodontic treatment is provided by dental professionals, myofunctional therapy plays a supportive role by improving oral muscle function, breathing patterns and functional habits that influence facial and jaw development.
Our therapy programs support children undergoing or preparing for early orthodontic intervention by addressing:
• Tongue posture
• Oral resting position
• Mouth breathing
• Swallowing patterns
• Muscle balance
Our Services
Myofunctional Therapy Initial Consultation
The Myofunctional Therapy Initial Consultation is a comprehensive assessment designed to evaluate oral muscle function, breathing patterns and functional habits that influence airway health, sleep quality and oral development.
This appointment provides a detailed understanding of each individual’s functional presentation and forms the foundation for a personalised therapy plan.
Tongue Tie Myofunctional Therapy Program
This structured myofunctional therapy program supports individuals with restricted lingual frenulum (tongue tie) before and after frenectomy procedures, as well as those managing functional limitations conservatively where appropriate.
The program focuses on improving oral muscle coordination, tongue mobility, resting posture and functional patterns that influence breathing, swallowing, speech and airway stability.
Myofunctional Therapy Comprehensive Program
Comprehensive myofunctional therapy programs are designed for children and adults with oral myofunctional disorders (OMDs) who experience one or more symptoms due OMDs
The program is a sequence of myofunctional therapy sessions designed to restore functional breathing and correct oral function through the attainment of the four goals:
functional nasal breathing
correct lip posture at rest
correct tongue posture and function
correct swallowing and chewing
Myofunctional Therapy Essentials Program
The Myofunctional Therapy Essentials Program is a foundational therapy program designed to assess and address dysfunctional oral and facial muscle patterns that impact breathing, swallowing, posture and airway stability.
This program provides structured intervention targeting the muscles of the tongue, lips, cheeks and jaw to establish optimal oral function and healthy breathing patterns.
Mini MyoMunchie – Thriving Child Program
The Mini MyoMunchie – Thriving Child Program is a structured myofunctional therapy program designed specifically for young children to support healthy oral development, breathing patterns and functional muscle habits during critical growth stages.
This early intervention program focuses on establishing correct tongue posture, nasal breathing and oral muscle coordination to promote optimal airway health, facial development and long-term wellbeing.
Tongue Thrust – Standard Myofunctional Therapy Program
This myofunctional therapy program is offered to children and adults who are presenting with a tongue thrust. Tongue thrust is part of oral myofunctional symptoms related to a dysfunctional swallowing pattern (usually with tongue pushing in between the teeth during swallowing and/or lips and cheeks pushing back on the dental arches) and an incorrect tongue posture (usually with tongue resting in between the teeth instead of in the roof of the mouth).
TMJ Relief Myofunctional Therapy Program
The TMJ Relief Myofunctional Therapy Program is designed to address functional muscle imbalances contributing to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) discomfort, jaw tension and dysfunctional oral patterns.
This structured therapy program focuses on improving muscle coordination, resting posture and movement patterns of the jaw, tongue and surrounding musculature to support joint stability and reduce muscular strain.
Thumb Sucking & Habit Cessation Program
The Thumb Sucking & Habit Cessation Program is a structured myofunctional therapy program designed to support children in safely and effectively discontinuing persistent oral habits that may impact oral development, breathing patterns and facial growth.
Prolonged thumb sucking and oral habits can influence tongue posture, jaw development, dental alignment and nasal breathing. This program focuses on identifying the functional drivers behind the habit and supporting healthy replacement behaviours.
